For this week I decided to make a project with a group with two classmates, Debora Zelaya and Pilar Garcia. This group project consisted of the different identities that we have with each other. Even though we come from different communities, we all have some differences and similarities as well. We decided to post this presentation under Debora’s page. If you would like to know more about our project you could find more information on DebzelWorld.com

For this week, I decided to post up some of the portraits that I have drawn since the beginning of class. I wanted to make sure I finished some so that I was able to post them for week 11.

The top left is a portrait of Macklemore, the top right is Miley Cyrus, bottom left is Josh Hensley, and the bottom right is Lady Gaga with Lana del Rey.

I draw people who I really admire. Some are artist and some are people who are a big inspiration for me. Macklemore and Miley Cyrus both have inspired me with their music and their personality. Josh Hensley has inspired me because as you can see in the pic, he does have multiple face tattoos, big gauges, and split tongue, but is still a great guy no matter his appearance. I do not usually like giving away my drawings due to so much time put into them, the frustration, hand cramping, and sleepless nights that occur when I start a portrait. But for the first time I decided to draw my friend’s favorite artist because he is an awesome person. I am not a big fan of Lana or Gaga, but drawing them as a gift was worth it all. It made me feel great to give away something that I put so much effort into.

Now, I do start drawing commissions for people. I do this not to keep the money but to help support people at local hospitals. I do not set a price on my drawings, I just explain why I am drawing them a picture and support me with it, so I usually get $20-$30 for a drawing. Once I reach $100, I take the money I make from my drawings to pretty much any hospital and donate it. I know it is not much, but just knowing those $100 can help pay for food, etc., makes it all worth it.

Week 10: Venice Beach

For this week, the class had to do an assignment to go to Venice beach and spray paint their name on the walls. I attempted to do this, and was horrible at it. I had so much trouble trying to get the right amount of paint on the walls.

To make things worse, my phone died before I even got the chance to take a picture of my horrible attempt at spray painting. I decided to put up the picture I had taken earlier of a guy who was pretty badass.
